Dugong You Were Wrong!

Well I am sure this will be the first of many lost arguments, but I technically lost an argument with Richie over the subject of Manatees. He has a nice little manatee stuffed animal which is obviously a manatee by looking at it. Some people also call Manatee's—Sea Cows and Dugongs. He has another stuffed animal which looks like a manatee except that it has a fluke like a whales tale. That is something I failed to note in my assessment of the little stuffed creature. Richie said "Daddy this can't be a manatee because it has a fluke." (Did I mention he was three) So I looked up Mantatee on the Internet and what he really has is a Steller's Sea Cow which has been extinct since 1768.

I thought it was a manatee which has a rounded tail and a slight different body. Very different to the close eye than Steller's Sea Cow.

So Richies's new saying for his Daddy is...Dugong You Were Wrong!

Richie and Olivia are best of friends. It is a real joy to see my little dude so happy with her. He prays for her and her Family every night. I hope they can always be best of friends.

You Said What?

Today Richie learned a new word: elasmobranchologist

Yeah I am thinking that too, what in the word is that. It is a shark scientist. And if he were grown today he'd be one of those. For any of you all who get to meet him, there is little that my three year old doesn't know about Sharks.

Baseball is Life

I am a huge baseball fan. I have been since I was a little kid. I can remember listening to WBAP for Ranger baseball as a kid. The Rangers were just awful then: Toby Harrah, Buddy Bell and Jim Sundberg were my favorites. And who can not forget RHP Jonathan Trumpbour Matlack!

I have been cautious to get Richie into baseball because I want him to love the game like I do in his own way. Over time he's gotten to where he'll watch the game longer and longer. Last night we watched the Rangers on TV for about two innings because they just happened to be on TV. Richie and I got to witness the culmination of something that had only happened 6 other times in history. Gary Matthews Jr's natural cycle. A single, double, triple and Home run in order. WOW! Story

Richie Spelled His First Word by Himself

Today Richie spelled his first word by himself....CARS. Obviously this was due to his great love of the movie Cars, and the large inventory of cars that he owns.

One of Richie's Buddies Has Passed

While we were in Colorado we got the terrible news that Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin had been killed by a Sting ray barb to the heart. Richie was really sad as he prays for Steve and Shark Gordon every night. Steve has been a real inspiration to Richie and many boys and girls all over the world. He will be sorely missed by me and my family. Rest in Peace and God be with you.

Here are some of the best cartoons I have seen:

Finally this picture really says it all about Steve and what he stood for. I can honestly say that I cannot think about Steve Irwin without thinking about Crocs!
